Jamie Update, April 2010
Jamie and the Magic Torch Song kicked off the new year with a performance on Balcony TV in Hamburg www.youtube.com/watch.
For more videos of Jamie and his band check us out on YouTube or at myspace/magictorchsong.
Henrik (guitars), Christoph (drums), Mario (bass, piano), Holger (cello) joined Alex (engineer) and me in the studio together for the first time in February to record songs for the next Jamie and The MTS album, which I'm calling 'The Vortex' at the moment. We managed to record 7 tracks over three days: 'Siren', 'Virtual Romantic' (which you can see on Balcony TV/YouTube), 'Weekday Afternoons', 'Haunted', 'Exit Svengali', 'Unknown Blonde', 'Midsommer Murder', 'The Golden Age of the European Motorway'.
We debuted Siren and Activate (yet to be recorded) at Marlene on the 18.3 - the other 'new' tracks are already part of the programme.
We had loads of press in March - I had an interview with Prinz magazine, which gave the impression I was worried about getting old and mentioned very little about the music; HAZ ran us as Tip des Tages on the day of the Marlene concert - just for the record, I'm not writing my new album with Martin Rosenplänter (who is, by the way, a fantastically witty and charming songwriter in his own right). I write my songs by myself, with the occasional exception (Henrik and I have written a couple of songs together, and 'Activate' was based on a backing track by producer Oliver Dommaschk).
Thanks also to Leine Hertz for the interview and plug on 15.3. We need to update your Jamie CDs.
