Back in studio in Sept 10
I'm looking forward to getting back into the studio over the first September weekend. The band and I have already recorded some 14 tracks (well, our lovely engineer Alex Kloss recorded them, actually) this year, but we haven't had the opportunity to get started with vocals and mixing, yet, so that's what we'll be making a start on.
I must admit that I haven't really been thinking about the new album at all; and the idea of gigging has vanished off my list of priorities for the time, with the exception this Leinehertz gig on the 12 Sept. I'm hoping that I'll be able to work quite spontaneously and that the notes will stream effortlessly over my rusty vocal chords. All a bit unpedictable, really.
We're particularly excited about 'Glasklar', which will hopefully be my first German language 'single'. The lyric is still not completely finished, and has now turned into threeway group project. Somewhat bemused by how it can take so long to come up with a few lyrics- I can honestly say I have never spent much more than a couple of hours knocking something - anything - together; I think we've been waiting for this lyric for the best part of a year. I am hoping this means we can expect greatness . . .
'Siren' has been another epic project, which we recorded again during the second studio session. This is obviously all my fault for springing the idea of '4-to-the-floor' on my unsuspecting drummer during the 1st session in Feb.
I could postulate about all of the tracks, but it's still all a bit of an amorphous mass out of which we need to form something, even though I've been performing some of these songs for 2 or 3 years (hello Weekday Afternoons).
Anyway, here's a list of what we've recorded:
Zora
Older Lover
Siren
Glasklar
Exit Svengali
Virtual Romantic
Midsomer Murder
Unknown Blonde
The Golden Age of the European Motorway
Weekday Afternoons
Haunted
Activate
Square One
Hannover
